Your WordPress database contains every post, every comment and every link you have on your blog. Backup your WordPress frequently, at least once every few posts so that you don’t lose them or the comments your readers have left.

Backing up WordPress with Cpanel

Backing up WordPress with cPanel is very simple and quick. Login to your Cpanel of your WordPress website and find an icon Backups. After clicking this will take you to the full Backups WordPress page.

A full backup includes all of the files in your home directory, your MySQL Databases, and your email forwarders and filters. You can backup your account to preserve your data or to move your account to another cPanel server. For full secure protection of your WordPress website you need to do the FULL backup.

Select Download or Generate a Full Web Site Backup and this will take you to another screen with a small form which you need to fill.

As the Backup destination select the backup location as “Home Directory” (the default). This will produce the backup file in the home or root directory on your website

Also fill in your email address and when the backup process is completed you will be emailed that it has been completed.

Now click Generate Backup button to start the full backup of your WordPress website.

This will automatically start the full backup process and will generate the Backup TAR file on to your website at your web host so that you can  later download the backup file to your laptop or personal computer using FTP.

If you wish to download the full WordPress Backup, go back and you will see Backups Available for Download with a link, which when you click on will download the Backup to you computer.

So it is not that difficult to back up your WordPress website, so do it often.

If you are not making any major changes only just adding posts or pages then you should do an Export from WordPress to create a copy of all your posts and pages in XML format. Just login to your WordPress Website go to Tools – Export. This Export file will contain your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags. Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use the Import function on another WordPress blog to import this blog.
